Steve Stitz 21.8.20 Brisbane Bayside The installation of my new 5 kw REA system is the sixth system Rea have installed for me and the first Fusion AC system, replacing my old 5kw unit which has been relocated to a close family members home and reinstalled by Rea. The previous five systems were all DC systems of various sizes with SMA inverters and LG panels installed 6-7 years ago and all have been totally trouble free, installed professionally and have preformed as claimed or exceeded expectations. I had originally spoken to a number of solar sellers and I was ready to abandon the original purchase of solar panels as to difficult and with too many traps, at a time when solar was relatively new. I fortunately persisted and contacted REA, the proprietor gave an excellent explanation of what I should expect & it was obvious he knew his solar and after seven plus years I hold him and his team in high regard. After a casual conversation with the proprietor earlier in the year about DC arcing problems on large (4kw plus) poorly installed units and how AC units eliminate this safety concern plus their much improved performance was brought to my attention. After careful consideration I then decided to replace my old DC unit on the good advice offered by REA. The new 5kw AC Fusion system was installed, facing due north at 11° from the horizontal plain in the same location and angle as the one it replaced. On the 13/5/20 it has now been operating for 100 days through winter with poor production conditions due to weather, producing 2750 kws for an av. of 27.5 kws per day. An increase of 70% compared with the older DC system which produced 16kws average per day and a previous yearly average of 23.45kw, interestingly the old panels had shown very little degradation in output during the previous seven year period, a testament to the quality of the panels and inverter that REA had previously installed & all are still in mint condition. It is still too early to speculate on the exact yearly production average of the new panels but if the increase of 70% plus is duplicated an amazing yearly average of 46.75kws is possible. I will be happy with a 35kw average, an increase of 50% on my previous old DC unit’s 23.5kws average. The elimination of the problem on DC units of one panel failing & degrading all the rest, improved performance & safety of AC plus the excellent Wi-Fi computer monitoring program, giving data on the production of each AC panel is excellent, making the previous technology obsolete in my view. On the 2nd & 3rd days after this review was finalised the panels reached 40kws per day, the old unit produced 19kws each day. A massive increase in efficiency compared with DC panels & this is a late winter not mid- summer. I am more than happy to recommend to anyone serious about buying an AC solar system to consider REA as they have delivered in spades for me and they deserve ever success.
